Motivational Quotes
« on: March 29, 2010, 10:01:32 PM »
I'd love to hear more quotes that motivate people to stay on their diet, lose weight, exercise more...

My favorite one, no matter how controversial it is, is: "Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels". I believe that was Kate Moss. And she got flack about it cos she's so super skinny, if Kirsty Allen said it no one would have bat an eyelid. Having been skinny most of my life, and less so after having my kids, I gotta say I totally agree with it, and the more weight I lose the better I feel.

That's a good one!
How about "It may taste good in your mouth, but it wont look good on your hips!"

I wanted to write a book called 'Spit yourself thin' Where you could put anything in our mouth, but if you realised at that point that the half a piece of your kids birthday cake you just crammed in didn't quite gel with your diet then you were allowed, in fact encouraged, to go and spit it (discreetly) into the sink. But it seems most people find it even harder than avoiding the cake in the first place.

Once it's in there and it's yummy, you're in a losing battle to get it out!
My tactic at the moment is remembering how full, bloated and bad you feel after a binge, and making that outweigh the anticipation you feel when you're hungry and see something yummy...

I have also been encouraged to write a book about losing weight as a single Mom (I'm never going to actually write these books, you understand :). I always said it would be so hard because I'd have to make two meals every mealtime, have all the cookies and candy in the house, etc, etc... but it's actually been a lot easier than I expected just keeping track of calories. I eat roughly the same as them but keep an eye on how much (and I only buy cookies and candy that they like, not the lovely chocolate biscuits I like). I got stuck on the same weight for ages (okay, maybe a week or two) and I dropped snacks, and I know that a lot of western dietitians say don't do that because your body goes into starvation mode but it totally worked. There are other diets that say never snack, they just aren't getting as much press. For me, when I snacked, my cals went up so fast that I'd get to the end of the day and be hungry but already at my 1300 limit. This way I get to dinner, still have a reasonable amount left, and maybe more for an apple while I watch TV, on my gym bike. :)

I've lost 17 pounds now!! I say it in pounds cos it sounds like so much more!!
